Game Defragment

Game Fire - Game Defragment

You can use Game Defragment to rearrange the game files stored on the disk to occupy contiguous storage locations, a technique called defragmentation. Defragmenting a disk minimizes head travel, which reduces the time it takes to read files from and write files to the disk, this will improve games startup and loading performance.

Unlike the default Windows disk defragmentation utility which defrags the whole partition and does not offer an option to only defrag certain folders, Game Defragment can defrag certain folders for example game folders without the need to defrag the whole partition thus speedup the defragmentation process.

Warning
DO NOT defrag games stored on solid-state drives (SSD) as it may reduce the drive lifespan.

To start Game Defragment, in My Games select the game you want to defrag its files, right-click and choose Defrag Game Files. Game Defragment will show up and start analyzing game files to determine progress then it will processed with the defragmentation process.

Info
The defragmentation process may take several minutes depending on the size, number, and degree of fragmentation of the selected game files.

When game defragmentation is finished, Game Fire will display a report about the number of files processed, files defragmented, and level of fragmentation.

Info
The game defragmentation process relies on Contig which Game Fire downloads and installs in C:\Program Files (x86)\Contig
